Happy Friday, all! We’re nearing the final edits of Secrets of the City of Gold.
This is going to be a short one, today!
So, just to update everyone: I’m double and triple checking the final version of the manuscript before sending it off to print. I’m nicking the redundencies, and just overall polishing it up. This has been quite a journey to have taken since the beginning last July.
I’m touched at how much support, work, and effort has gone into this. It’s all so emotionally overwhelming in the best way possible–how much love has gone into this novel. I truly hope you feel it with every turn of the page. This is my gift to you all <3.
Also, while reading and tweaking the minor details, I thought of something I really wanted you all to takeaway:
I want this to be a meal. Enough to keep you content and satisfied. Not overloaded with details where you feel bloated and discontent. By the end of the story, I want you to feel like you’ve been to a buffet of emotions, topics, and characters.
I’ve wanted to write a book for the longest time. I made a plethora of excuses and kept putting it off. Do I regret it? Absolutely. But then my first piece wouldn’t be this–my shining City of Gold and all of its inhabitants. Rather than regretting what I haven’t done, I’m considering that maybe back then wasn’t the right time.
So chew on that for a moment. If you’re upset that something hasn’t yet happened for you, keep in mind that it may not be the right time. You’ll know, your subconscious will tug on you and give you the hints you need. I know it’s frustrating, believe me, I am no stranger to the feeling. I’m riding the frustration train with you, but the end result will make you go, “Ohhhh, okay. I see. That was meant to be like that.”
