“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” The Shining.
And it’s true. You might think you’re being productive, working hard and getting things done – I’m sure you actually are. There is likely a list of “To Do” items that you are checking off, quite impressively I might presume and maybe you are waiting to get some things done before you put your feet up.
Well, I have news for you: at some point the cliche of “burning the candle at both ends” comes into play. You might not be there yet, but it is important for yourself and those around you to recognize when you are getting close and hit the brakes on the momentum of the day.
Contrary to what many believe, going to sleep is not relaxing. It isn’t necessarily a removal of stress, unless of course your stress was caused from sleep deprivation. No, if you are stressed about work, come home to do chores and go to sleep, well then you have done nothing to actually relax yourself. I’m sure you’v felt it, or even said it at some point, “all I do is go to work, go to sleep, and repeat until the weekend” and that’s not healthy.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say you, my dear reader, are stressed.
It’s a safe bet really.
So tonight I want to invite you to relax. You deserve it. You need it.
That diet your on? Not tonight.
Order in, put your feet up, relax. Slip into those pajamas you like and watch something fun. Paint, draw, bake; whatever brings you joy and then – leave the mess for tomorrow.
Tonight, enjoy the pleasures and splendors that come from letting go of the worries of tomorrow. Let me know how it goes in the comments below =)
