Very soon, I am excited to be sharing bits and pieces with you! The editing process is taking longer than usual. As it turns out, I type quickly and make a lot of mistake – forgive me! Here is a piece that furthers my excitement in the story!

The complete Chapter 1 is available here.

{“It does seem unusual that a demigod would happen to dominate the lands most formidable nation, allow a last-in-line prince to escape, and then you find your way to our floor.” Sho explained. “We have not received word from Vian or Luray to confirm what you are telling us.”

Stein’s jaw clenched with frustration.

Drogon gave a thankful nod, “I can assure you that there is nothing usual about this. There is no precedent of an individual dominating more than a few minds at a time. There is also no precedent of a demigod invading a mortal nation to take control. And as I mentioned earlier, our narrow escape was largely a matter of luck.” Drogon turned towards Stein, “Didn’t Francesco say he would send word?”

“Maybe he only sent word to the Duke?” said Stein.

Morvis became agitated by this, “The Duke cannot declare war with the consent of the senate and our armies will not march without our say-so.”

“I see no facts to support your claim presently,” Sho said.

“Prime Minister Francesco may have sent word to the Duke of our plight,” Drogon said, “but we knew to first come here to address the will of the people. If you are looking for physical evidence, Sho; I can only offer you our survival and the fact that we are here in this chamber requesting your help. Beyond that, I may not be able to give you proof until it’s at your gates.”

“That sounds like the fear-mongering tactics I might expect from a group of manipulators looking to overthrow the throne.” said Morvis.

“Let us not add insult, Morvis.” Leia beckoned. “We can discuss this matter more with Francesco and King Connero to shed some light on the nature of this demigod.”

“I do not think this is a good use of our resources. They are clearly usurpers as far as I am concerned.” Morvis argued.

“We all understand your reservations, Morvis, but we must leave the past in the past and treat any threat as a serious one,” said Leia.

“The Radiant Empire has been commanding the nations of the world with their bully-tactics for long enough. I say, if this threat is true, it sounds like they have had a taste of their own medicine – good riddance.” Morvis mocked.

“Good riddance? To my people!?” Stein shouted, staring him down. “Good riddance!” He slid his right foot back and held his hands out in front of him.}

I hope you are looking forward to the book as much as I am!

With love,
M.C. Grimm
