An Alaska-game-fandom and facebook stalking inspired post!

Not all heroes wear capes.

No, some of them are like those everyday angels, and others help you open doors to love that you never knew existed.

I believe that at certain points in our lives we are in need of saving – no matter how tough or independent you think you are, you didn’t get there alone. And I believe you know the moments I am talking about. The moments when you are tapped out, down and out, rock bottom, broken hearted, or lost and asking yourself “Does any of this really matter anyway?”

While not all heroes are ones who enter your life, conquer your challenges and place you on this mountain of happiness; some do. They come into your life most unexpectedly, in the least likely places, and solve the problem. They are a walking solution and they carry an air of wonder that moves you forward like windsurfing a tornado! Turn-key happiness, jump start consciousness, a shock back to life when you didn’t realize your heart had stopped. We will call these the Heroes of Power; you fall in love with their positive influence and want to soar with them forever.

Other heroes will allow you to struggle, and fail. Will watch you, and encourage you, all the while they are hurting, knowing that you are going through these life lessons to emerge your true self, but knowing it takes having to experience these trials to grow. Like growing a plant, sometimes this pruning can be painful. These heroes will allow life to take it’s course, never lose faith in you, and offer you a helping hand when you are you have lost your way. We will call these Heroes of Wisdom; you never truly appreciate them until you arise in your enlightened form, ready to take on everything the world has to offer and realize that these challenges and decision you simply had to make for yourself.

Finally, the Heroes of the Heart (or courage for those following the tri-force). These heroes need only exist; their soul hums at a frequency that resonates within you and unlocks something within yourself. A feeling or identity that once opened, is more of a reminder of who you are rather than a change within yourself. They are their own beautiful-self, and meld into you like your hearts are beating in rhythm or that you are floating in a sea of their gravity. They don’t solve problems for you, they don’t watch you struggle, no – because those trials before you are no longer a challenge and there is no struggle. Yes, you are inspired, driven, and conscious to know there is nothing that can stop you and therefore; there is nothing to worry you. This hero has inspired you to save yourself.

As I write this I am flooded with emotion, naming all my heroes in my mind to every single category of who got me where I am today, and continue to push me on to the future.

If you have been blessed with even a single hero, thank them. Hug them. Love them. Appreciate them. And let that hero inspire you to be that force in someones else’s life as they were for you.

With love,
M.C. Grimm
